Big Bird

tonight the Montreal Canadiens retire the number 19 in Montreal. as a hockey player the man was phenomenal, among the best that you’d ever want to run out there for any fantasy team, and arguably as good or better than ANY D-man on NHL ice today. i was a Leaf fan while Big Bird did his thing in Montreal so it’s not like i could ever cheer for him (out loud) but he was a class act throughout most of his hockey dealings.
you could do so well to get a Robinson type player and build around him. maybe Jack Johnson could be that. maybe Eric Johnson. it used to be that Jay Bouwmeester or Dion Phaneuf could get there but to do so they’ll have to do it for a solid decade. maybe they still could. if you’re drafting Larry Robinson for your fantasy team though, i hope you’re playing in an “All-Time” league. if you are then he’s a first rounder.
