SOG over the last month
January 11th, 2008 by Ianwe see some of the usual suspects but there’s also a few surprising names that crop up in the top 20 names.
Mikael Samuelsson - he looks to be teaming up with names like Valtteri (Flip) Filppula to add to what is already a very potent attack for the Wings. not only do opponents have to worry about Datsyuk and Zetterberg breaking a game wide open but the secondary scoring can bury you in Detroit too. Samuelsson has been a fringe option in fantasy leagues for a lot of years now and i’ve noticed in my standard 12 team league that he’s a FA. go add him now, a RW who shoots and will give you more than solid +/- (like any Wing) is always valuable.
Patrick O’Sullivan - this King has come to the forefront of a decent attack in that last month. the Kings got Sully in the Demitra deal during the draft 2 summers ago and i remember thinking at the time that the Wild helped themselves in the short term but the Kings got themselves a very real offensive option that would hit fantasy owners upside the head within 2 seasons. well, knock knock, wear a helmet. if Sully can control the +/- problems that plague any King right now then he’ll jump into the elite option for stats at C within another season or so.
Radek Dvorak - this is looking pretty deep but consider for a moment just who the options are supposed to be for the Panthers? Olli is going to be the only real option for them for a lot of years but who’s going to step up in a supportive role? i like Anthony Stewart and Steven Weiss down the road, Rostislav Olesz is a sleeper offensive option, Nathan Horton may’ve reached all of his upside already, and Radek Dvorak may surprise you. what can i say, i did point out that this was looking pretty deep. look for Steven Weiss to show up on boxcscores in the near future.
go add Samuelsson, you won’t be sorry.
