Round 2
April 29th, 2009 by Marcus SchalleRound 1 is over and I finished with a 5-3 record. NJ was my pick to win the cup and I’m still in shock over the last 2 mins of game 7. Glad to see my prediction of Ana upsetting SJ come true and my Nucks get the sweep.
Boston vs Carolina: Boston surprised me in the first round after struggling in the last quarter of the regular season. I will stick with my guns and bet against the Bruins who will face a solid team who will be riding high after a dramatic game 7. Ward has built up a reputation in the playoffs and I expect it to continue in round 2. Canes in 6.
Pittsburgh vs Washington: This series is gonna be a dandy. My prediciton of Varlamov carrying the Caps to round 2 was right but I do not think the rookie can survive a 7 games series vs the Pens. Malkin will outshine both AO and Crosby and lead the Pens to Round 3 in 6 games.
Detroit vs Anaheim: To me this is the closest matchup of round 2 and the only one I see going to game 7. Anaheim will continue to surprise but the depth in Detroit will prevail.
Vancouver vs Chicago: All the talk about this series being a brawl will disappoint viewers. This will be a physical series but both teams will limit the PIMs and stay out of the sin bin. The Nucks will come out rusty in game 1 but will take the series in 6.
